Advent Reflections on the Sacred Heart of Jesus
This Adorable Heart...
Let us adore and love God through the adorable Heart of Jesus; let us do all our actions in Him; let us beg Him to do all in us and for us, and to restore us to grace by uniting us again to His Father when sin has separated us from Him.
St. Margaret Mary, II, 725
Today, let us take a moment to pause amid the busyness of our lives and reflect on the loving heart of Jesus. St. Margaret Mary referred to His Heart as the “adorable Heart of Jesus,” which powerfully affirms how we are called to interact with the Lord.
Do we think of His Heart as adorable? Or defined as:
delightful, sweet, with great affection, engaging, captivating, endearing, dear, lovely?
Are we open to loving His heart and receiving His love in a new way this Advent season? We read in Scripture, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Jesus is the greatest gift we can ever receive from God the Father who desires us to be part of His family. How can we allow the love of Christ to influence and guide us during our day?
Pause and think in a time when stress and anxiety entered into your hearts, and how easily it is to start to feel overwhelmed, lonely, frustrated and even depressed.
Jesus tells us: John 14:27-“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
Jesus Himself offers the remedy for stress, fear, and anxiety—His own Heart and His own peace. In these moments, we are invited to turn to the “adorable heart of Jesus” and recall the great love Jesus has for us and ask Jesus for more graces! Let us adore and love God through the Heart of Jesus and do all our tasks throughout the day with the love of Christ in our hearts.
May we turn to the Lord in prayer, in gratitude seeking His love and peace and mercy when life seems challenging and difficult.
